Today is Good Friday. Our principal commemoration of the Death of the Lord is the Liturgy of the Passion at 3.00 pm. The People of God gather for a celebration of the Liturgy of the Word, which is then followed by the opportunity to venerate the Cross of Christ, and receive communion reserved from last night’s Mass of the Lord’s Supper.

Stations of the Cross are celebrated in the evening at 7.30 pm according to the ancient custom referred to as “Maria Desolata.” In this, the Stations are experienced in reverse order, meditating on each event in the last moments of our Lord’s life through the eyes of Our Lady.
