Weekly Email – Feast of the Holy Family
Documents
Dear friends,
I wish you all a very happy Christmas! I pray the joy of this holy season will be yours as we continue to celebrate the mystery of the Word becoming flesh over the coming days with all the rich feasts, festivities, and commemorations of the Christmas season.
Please note that this Sunday, as is our long-standing tradition, there will be no public liturgies offered in the evening. There will, therefore, be neither a Low Mass at 5.15 pm nor Evensong and Benediction at 6.00 pm on 28th December.
In addition, between this Sunday and next Sunday 4th January, there will be only one Mass a day, at 12 noon (i.e. there will be no Mass at 6.30 pm). Our usual pattern of two Masses per day will resume on Monday 5th January.
As we continue to keep the full richness of the whole Christmas season, please put our various observances of the Epiphany in your diary. The Epiphany Carol Service will take place on Sunday 4th January at 6.00 pm. The feast of the Epiphany itself will be kept on Tuesday 6th January with a High Mass at 6.30 pm.
At the Epiphany Carol Service, we will recall the Magi’s visit by singing some of the best-loved carols of the season, including: We Three Kings; As with Gladness Men of Old; The First Nowell; and Why Impious Herod. Music sung by our choir will include: Lassus, Omnes de Saba; Leighton, The Christ Child Lay; Mealor, Hodie Caelestis Sponso; Bull, Almighty God; and Sumsion’s Tantum Ergo at Benediction. Do make every effort to be present and bring friends.
With many prayers and every blessing in this season of the Incarnation,
Fr Peter

Thank you, Jeremiah!
Huge thanks go to Jeremiah Stephenson, our Associate Director of Music, for the wonderful Christmas organ concert he played last Friday in aid of our Music Appeal. It was a splendid evening of organ repertoire associated with Christmas, and also improvisation on carol tunes chosen by the audience!
The whole evening raised a total of £1,070 for our Choir and Music Trust Fund. We are very grateful indeed to Jeremiah for his generosity and for the splendid elan, creativity, and musicianship he brought to the evening.

Jeremiah receives rapturous applause at the end of his organ recital last Friday.
