Dear friends,

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to the splendid baptism and confirmation liturgy we had last Sunday and to the magnificent parish lunch in our courtyard. It was a terrific weekend and I am very grateful indeed to all involved.

The lunch after the High Mass was a gargantuan spread! Many thanks to all who brought dishes, to those who prepared tables and chairs, served the food, manned the drinks table, and to all who helped with the enormous clear up operation. A special word of thanks goes to Kate Hodgetts, Chris Self, and Anne Flanagan for all they did to coordinate the lunch. It was such a joy to be able to celebrate together.

We also offer, of course, our heart-felt congratulations to the candidates themselves who were baptized and/or confirmed, and assure them of our prayers and support as they continue on their pilgrimage of faith. It was a great delight to see how happy they were as they took this next step in the sacramental life.

We also owe a word of thanks to those without whom the liturgy itself would not have been possible: our Director of Music, organists, and choir; our team of servers; those who worked so hard to prepare flowers and undertake sacristy work; our online team who ensured such a faultless live-stream; and those in our parish office who prepared and printed service sheets. It was a wonderful team effort which produced a liturgy of which we can be truly proud.

If you would like to watch the High Mass again you can do so here. Bishop Jonathan’s homily is well worth a listen if you have not already heard it. The Mass setting was Mozart’s Missa Brevis in F and the Offertory Anthem was Beati Mundo Corde by Byrd.

Let us give thanks for the working of God’s grace in our parish, and for the fact that he is calling to faith new disciples to be Christ’s Body in this place. Thanks be to God for all that he did amongst us last Sunday!

Fr Peter
