Dear friends,

This Thursday (30th May) is Corpus Christi. We will celebrate the feast at 6.30 pm with High Mass followed by a procession of the Blessed Sacrament down Oxford Street, and Benediction. Once we have returned to church, there will be the opportunity for a parish party in our beautiful courtyard.

The feast of Corpus Christi is an opportunity to give thanks for all the blessings we receive in the Eucharist and to proclaim our faith publicly in Jesus Christ, whom we carry with us in our procession. I urge all parishioners and friends of All Saints’ to do all they can to be present for the High Mass and to join us on Thursday. It promises to be a splendid evening.

I am particularly excited that we will have Fr Steve Rice with us as our preacher on Thursday evening. He is the Rector of St Timothy’s Church, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA. Fr Steve has preached at All Saints’ before and is a a very impressive and powerful speaker. We are so grateful to him for agreeing to give the homily and look forward to seeing him again.

Our Corpus Christi celebrations require many hands to organise. The most important area in which we are still seeking volunteers is stewarding. This role involves wearing a high-vis vest, marshalling the procession into order and ensuring our journey through the West End is safe for all taking part. Please be in touch with the parish office (office@asms.uk) or Fr Alan to volunteer if you are able.

The music for Corpus Christi will be wonderful. The Mass setting will be the Jugendmesse by Haydn and the Offertory Motet will be Mozart’s Ave Verum. Benediction will include Henschel’s Tantum Ergo. The Voluntary will be Prelude and Fugue in B major by Marcel Dupré. I thank in advance all those who will contribute in any way to the music on Thursday night.

I look forward to seeing so many of you on Thursday evening and to celebrating together the burning love which our Lord shows for us in the Eucharist as he gives of himself to us day by day.

Fr Peter

Thanks and Congratulations

Heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed in any way to our celebration of Pentecost on Sunday which included the Baptism and Confirmation of those who have been preparing for the sacraments of initiation over the past few months. We all offer Charlotte, Conor, George, Grace, and Moritz our congratulations and assure them of our continued prayer for them in their journey of faith.

A huge thank you to anyone who contributed to our parish lunch on Sunday. It was a splendid occasion! A magnificent feast was amassed by a large number of people who all contributed a wonderful array of delicious dishes! It was a tremendous finish to a wonderful morning.

You can watch the High Mass again here and you can listen to Bishop Jonathan’s Excellent sermon here.

Many congratulations to those who were baptized, confirmed and received into the Church of England last Sunday.

Mass on Bank Holiday Monday

Please note that as Monday is a Bank Holiday, there will be, according to our usual custom, only one Mass, which will be at 12 noon (i.e. there will be no evening Mass).

Our parish lunch last Sunday in honour of the feast of Pentecost and to congratulate those newly confirmed and received into the Church of England.

Walsingham National Pilgrimage

The coach taking pilgrims to the Walsingham National Pilgrimage will depart Margaret Street PROMPTLY at 7.30 am on Monday. We will return to London by the late evening – usually around 9.00 pm.

The enormous Peach Melba trifle is heaved into the courtyard for pudding by Fr Peter and Fr Alan at our parish lunch on Sunday.

Young Adults Group

An Eastertide rambling day trip will take place on Saturday May 25th. We’ll meet at Victoria Station at 09.30, ready for the 09.46 Littlehampton train to Hassocks. A circular route of around 12 miles – involving some abrupt changes in relief; some fine Sussex churches; and a pub lunch will follow. All welcome! Be in touch with Fr Alan if you want to know more or come along.

Conor Huang is baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit last Sunday.

Join the Friends of All Saints’, Margaret Street

Joining the Friend of All Saints’ is a wonderful way of supporting our parish’s life and mission through prayer, giving and fellowship.

It is particularly suitable as a way of connecting with All Saints’ for people who do not live in London, or form part of our community of online worshippers – it’s a great way of feeling a part of our parish’s crucial wider family.

As a Friend, you will receive the Parish Paper twice a year and be remembered by name at the 12 noon Mass once a month.

More details about the Friends scheme and how you can join can be found here.
